Anthony Davis injury: What we know about the Lakers star’s status

Anthony Davis left Tuesday’s game after taking a scary fall on a block attempt.

Lakers star Anthony Davis was forced to leave Tuesday night’s game against the Knicks in the third quarter after taking a hard fall while attempting to block a shot. Davis elevated near the basket to contest a shot by New York’s Julius Randle, was knocked backward in mid-air due to contact from Randle and crashed to the floor, falling on his tailbone. Davis pounded the floor with his fist, clearly in serious pain.

Davis was eventually able to get up and slowly walk back to the locker room under his own power.

According to ESPN, Davis is expected to miss a two-game roadtrip and will not travel with the team to play the Thunder and the Mavericks.

Via ESPN:

“Davis was able to walk more in the player tunnel but was ultimately carted out of the arena at the end of the night to undergo further testing.

Davis’ agent, Rich Paul, emerged from the Lakers’ locker room after the injury and said X-rays on Davis’ back were negative, but the superstar is feeling sore. The Lakers described the injury as a bruised sacrum — the lower part of the spine near the tailbone.”
