Anthony Davis and Alex Caruso both out Sunday for Lakers at Pelicans

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without their star forward Anthony Davis and one of their more reliable bench pieces on Sunday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers will finish their Western Conference road trip on Sunday after they take on the New Orleans Pelicans, but if they are going to escape the trip with a winning record, they will have to do it without one of their stars and another key piece to their success.

Just about an hour before Sunday’s game, the Lakers announced that they would be without Anthony Davis, who was a game-time decision with a sore knee, as well as reserve guard Alex Caruso who got the start in place of an injured Danny Green on Saturday. However, the Lakers did get some good news that Green will be available, according to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times.

With the Lakers losing Davis, that will put even more on the plate of LeBron James, as well as the remaining playmakers, such as Rajon Rond. The Davis injury has also thrust Kyle Kuzma into the Lakers starting lineup. Kuzma has been mired in a shooting slump for the past couple of months and the Lakers likely need him to snap out of it if they are going to secure a road win against a Pelicans team playing strong basketball.
