Even as the veteran leader of the Indianapolis Colts offensive line, Anthony Castonzo is still able to fly under the radar.
Enjoying what is likely one of his best seasons since entering the NFL in 2011 as a first-round pick, Castonzo has been a force on the left side next to guard Quenton Nelson.
He’s enjoying such a strong season that Pro Football Focus listed him as the most underrated player on the Colts roster. Here’s what they had to say:
The season Anthony Castonzo is producing at age 31 is quite impressive — he is on pace for the third-highest-graded season of his career and one that ranks second among left tackles in 2019. Castonzo is in a similar spot as Ronnie Stanley — he has always been known as a good tackle, but he’s not quite been recognized as one of the best in the NFL. Castonzo has been a key piece in opening up holes for the Colts’ run game, and he’s also done a great job of keeping Jacoby Brissett free from pressure. Castonzo is set to hit the open market at season’s end, but it’d be hard not to make this guy a Colt for life, considering he’s been one of the best in the business over recent years.
The Colts offensive line has been up and down this season, but it has been strong for the most part. Much of that is due to the play of Castonzo, who seems to be thriving as he gets older.
The Boston College product is in the final year of his contract, but it should be almost a certainty that he gets another deal with the Colts—even if it is a short one.
The offensive line is the engine of the offense, and Castonzo has been a big part of the team’s success on that side of the ball.
