Another mock draft pairs LSU QB Jayden Daniels with the Commanders

Another mock draft has Daniels to Washington.

The Washington Commanders still don’t have a head coach, but that hasn’t stopped multiple mock drafts from projecting LSU quarterback — and 2023 Heisman Trophy winner — Jayden Daniels to Washington at No. 2 overall in the 2024 NFL draft.

Earlier this week, Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN had Daniels heading to Washington in his first mock draft. Kiper noted Daniels’ ability to make plays with his legs, in addition to his arm strength and accuracy, as reasons why the Commanders should make him their new franchise quarterback.

Kiper isn’t the only one who believes Washington should select the LSU signal-caller.

In a new mock draft from CBS Sports, Caleb Williams heads to Chicago at No. 1, followed by Daniels to Washington.

To this point, I think everyone’s assumption has been that Drake Maye is going to be taken second once Caleb Williams is gone. While I do believe that is the most likely outcome, it would be naïve not to acknowledge that other possibilities exist. Jayden Daniels had a better season in 2023 than Maye.

Mock drafts are fun, but they are meaningless. We are still three months away from the 2024 NFL draft, but Daniels is a serious contender to be picked by the Commanders at No. 2. In all likelihood, it will be Maye or Daniels.

Buckle up.
