There are still fans of the Boston Celtics who question whether All-NBA forward Jaylen Brown wants to be in Boston despite all that has happened since he joined the ball club, but not everyone agrees with that take. Per recent reporting from Heavy’s Steve Bulpett (h/t Adam Taylor), an anonymous opposing league executive actually feels quite the opposite.
“If Boston didn’t have the kind of team that could win now, you might have to think twice about what you offer a Jaylen Brown,” suggested the unknown East GM. “But from everything we’ve seen about him and know, he’s not the kind of person you have to worry about.”
“It looks like he’s invested in the team and not just his stats,” they added. “That’s more important than people realize when it comes to how a guy’s new contract sits with the rest of the guys in the room.”
With training camp just weeks away, the order of the NBA’s Eastern Conference is coming into focus. https://t.co/2PFXhTDDJ2

Brown made a point of demonstrating how strong and important to him his local ties have become on signing his historic supermax contract extension earlier this offseason.
Given that and all he has done to fight for local equity in the city of Boston, we tend to think this anonymous exec knows very much about what they are talking about.
