A pair of strawweight contenders and former Invicta FC champions will attempt to rebound when [autotag]Angela Hill[/autotag] meets [autotag]Michelle Waterson[/autotag] in August.
After both losing competitive decisions in their previous outings, Hill (12-8 MMA, 6-8 UFC) and Waterson (17-8 MMA, 5-4 UFC) have agreed to a matchup later this summer, MMA Junkie confirmed with multiple people close to the situation. The people requested anonymity because UFC has yet to make an official announcement.
The fight will take place on the UFC’s Aug. 22 card, which is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and air on ESPN/stream on ESPN+.

Hill, No. 15 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie MMA strawweight rankings, had her three-fight winning streak snapped at UFC on ESPN 8 in May when she lost a controversial split decision to Claudia Gadelha. “Overkill” felt strongly that she won the fight, but the judges saw it different. She will now become the first UFC fighter to compete four times in 2020.
No. 13-ranked Waterson, meanwhile, will attempt to snap the first losing skid of her career. After putting together a three-fight run of her own, “The Karate Hottie” has dropped consecutive bouts to former UFC champs Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Carla Esparza. The latter, which came at UFC 249 in May, was a split decision that Waterson felt she’d won.
With the addition, the lineup for the UFC’s Aug. 22 event now includes:
- Uriah Hall vs. Yoel Romero
- Mizuki Inoue vs. Amanda Lemos
- Mariya Agapova vs. Shana Dobson
- Angela Hill vs. Michelle Waterson
