Angel Reese had a great explanation for how her trash talk to Caitlin Clark isn’t personal ahead of LSU-Iowa

Trash talk is part of competition.

Much of the discussion heading into Monday’s rematch of the 2023 national title game between Iowa and LSU surrounds the supposed rivalry of Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark.

They are two of the biggest stars in college basketball, and they’ll meet once again. This time, with a trip to the Final Four on the line.

When it came to that title game showdown last season, the lasting image from the game was Reese celebrating by pointing at her ring finger behind a demoralized Clark. But as much as the rivalry gets played up between the two, Reese made it clear that she has nothing but respect for Clark.

Reese said that she loves Clark’s game. But when a game is being played, it’s all competition. She would talk trash to an ex-teammate that left for an opposing team and still be friends once the game ends. It’s never personal for Reese, and Clark would certainly agree with that.

The respect is mutual.
