Andy Isabella is rocking a new jersey number

He swapped the cumbersome No. 89 for No. 17.

Second-year Arizona Cardinals receiver Andy Isabella has caught the eye of head coach Kliff Kingsbury because of his confidence and performance in training camp so far. He will catch the eyes of fans, too, as he has changed his jersey.

After a year of wearing No. 89, he has swapped numbers, joining the rest of the receiver room with a number in the teens.

The team announced via social media.

The team’s VP of media relations, Mark Dalton, gave the public its first look of Isabella in his new number.

Isabella was originally given No. 19 as a rookie, but fellow 2019 draft pick KeeSean Johnson wanted the number as a reminder that he was the 19th receiver taken in the draft that year.

The old tradition of receivers wearing numbers in the 80s is mostly a thing of the past, especially on the Cardinals. Anymore, only tight ends will have numbers that high.

Hakeem Butler wore No. 17 last year but changed to No. 18 this year.

The receivers and their numbers are now as follows:

  • DeAndre Hopkins, No. 10
  • Larry Fitzgerald, No. 11
  • Johnnie Dixon, No. 12
  • Christian Kirk, No. 13
  • JoJo Ward, No. 14
  • Trent Sherfield, No. 16
  • Andy Isabella, No. 17
  • Hakeem Butler, No. 18
  • KeeSean Johnson, No. 19
  • A.J. Richardson, No. 83
  • Andre Patton, No. 84
