Andy Enfield gets win No. 200 as USC head coach

The win over Washington was No. 200 for Andy Enfield at #USC. In 2015 and 2019, few thought he would last this long. #FightOn

The USC Trojans had a difficult time against the Washington Huskies on Saturday night at the Galen Center. Nonetheless, USC walked out with an 80-74 victory and the 17th win of the year as Andy Enfield’s team aims for another NCAA Tournament trip.

On top of that, it was a historic moment for Enfield, who earned career win No. 200 since coming to USC to become the head coach.

Enfield has worked wonders since coming over from Florida Gulf Coast, and he once again has the Trjans playing solid basketball and fighting for a postseason berth in the Big Dance with March just a month away.

Enfield made his name known when Florida Gulf Coast made the Sweet 16 in 2013, and now he has become a popular coach by putting together years of sustained success in Southern California.

The Trojans have made four trips to the NCAA Tournament with Enfield (not counting the 2020 season in which USC would have qualified; the tournament and its selection show were canceled because of the pandemic), and he was rewarded with a contract extension in the offseason to keep him in L.A. for quite some time.

The Trojans are on track to earn an at-large bid, and the rest of the schedule will determine whether inclusion in the NCAA Tournament is more of a certainty … or less. USC faces both Oregon schools, Cal, Stanford, and Colorado, but they finish with Utah, Arizona, and Arizona State before the Pac-12 Tournament.
