Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton would know all about what Joe Burrow is about to experience.

And that has layers. This isn’t just about taking over the Bengals. Back when Dalton got drafted, he had a lockout making for an odd entry to the NFL as he took over for a disgruntled Carson Palmer.

No disgruntled veteran here — Dalton has already offered Burrow some advice.

“Just learn everything as quickly as you can, that’s the best piece of advice,” Dalton said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “And worry about what you can control.”

But Dalton has also noted Burrow sits in a good position thanks to the great supporting cast around him and even has a leg up in the rookie prep department thanks to virtual meets:

“We had a different group at receiver. My year was different, too. Everyone wanted to talk about Carson and what would happen. That’s why I say, worry about what you can control … (Burrow) is going to have some virtual meetings I didn’t get to have. He’s getting a leg up on a lot of things.”

Dalton, cut earlier this week, has Bengals legends thinking he can pull a Ryan Tannehill with a new team.

But in typical Dalton fashion, he took a moment before he got started on such a pursuit and dished Burrow some advice via the media. And Burrow revealed that Dalton was one of the first guys to reach out to him and welcome him to the Bengals after getting drafted.

In other words, Andy’s just being Andy as he exits the stage.
