Aside from losing Cory Littleton and Dante Fowler Jr. in free agency, the biggest point of anger for Rams fans this offseason has been the team’s new logo. It was met with harsh criticism after it leaked on a draft hat, and when it was officially unveiled, Rams fans were outraged.
The anger hasn’t gone away, either, with fans petitioning to get the logo changed and even Eric Dickerson has taken action by speaking to the team about it. Current Rams players have only had good things to say about it, unsurprisingly, but Andrew Whitworth doesn’t have much of an opinion about it.
He was asked on a recent conference call if he has a favorite new logo for the Rams and whether he’s thought about the redesign much.
“Not really. I love ball so much that I don’t really think about what I’m wearing,” Whitworth said. “I think it’s great. It’s a new brand. Anytime you have a new brand, there’s people that are going to be excited about it, and there’s going to be people that don’t like it. But over time, I think that stuff just goes away. It’s something to have an opinion about and then you get used to it – it becomes your new normal. If you really look back at new franchises or new teams that come along with new uniforms, there’s always something about it. There’s always something that people don’t like or complain about and then all of a sudden, it kind of goes away.”
That’s the case with most rebranding efforts, but that’s unlikely to happen with the Rams’ new logo. Fans have vowed not to buy merchandise with the L.A. mark and are doing what they can to get the logo changed.
Whitworth compared this situation to the time when Steph Curry released a new signature shoe in 2016, the Curry 2 Low “Chef.” Fans ripped the shoes on Twitter and made endless jokes about how ugly they were, but Whitworth says that blew over after a while.

“The latest I can really think of is maybe when Steph Curry had his shoe come out,” he said. “I remember there was a lot of junk about that – about how people didn’t like it or whatever. That’s kind of died and gone away now. But the reality is I think it’s great. I think it gives an energy, a new vibe, a new stadium and a new environment and new logo and I think it’ll be fun. It’ll be about how we produce on the football field that’ll make people fall in love with it.”
It’s highly unlikely the Rams will change their new logo to something that appeases fans, but those in L.A. have made it abundantly clear that they’re not happy about the team’s rebranding.
