Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro has consistently earned praise this season from his teammates and the rookie received a bit more recently by veteran, and former NBA Finals MVP, Andre Iguodala.

Iguodala joined the Heat just before the trade deadline and only logged 14 appearances with the team prior to the season suspension in March. He hadn’t gone through many practices at that point and hadn’t played with the entire roster yet due to injuries so his time with the Heat during the season restart has served as a chance to really get to know his teammates.

The three-time NBA champion has been impressed with a number of his teammates since joining the Heat, including Herro. Iguodala, speaking on “The Bill Simmons Podcast” recently, was first blown away by Herro’s work ethic.

I saw the work ethic of Tyler Herro and I was like, ‘Woah! This kid is different.’ You can see guys who are really talented and you see those kids who just have a knack for just wanting to be really good and you really have a joy in working hard, which is a very rare trait. Especially nowadays with the way that AAU has kind of disrupted the game — kids are not earning it as much as they used to. He is one of those guys who is earning it.

The comments made by Iguodala with Simmons comes just a few weeks after he told reporters that he can tell that Herro wants to be great. Iguodala said Herro has the right attitude and willingness to put in the work, which is a bit rare among rookie players.

The work put in by Herro has shown on the floor as he has played an integral role in the Heat leading the Milwaukee Bucks 3-0 in the Eastern Conference semifinals. He has played confidently thus far and has dazzled at times on the big stage of the playoffs.
