Andre Fili credits Cub Swanson for pulling him into a dogfight at UFC 303

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Andre Fili[/autotag] apparently hoped his Saturday work shift was going to go a little differently than it did.

Instead, Fili (24-11 MMA, 12-10 UFC) found himself in a 15-minute battle that showed when he left with a unanimous decision win over fellow longtime UFC featherweight Cub Swanson (29-14 MMA, 14-10 UFC) at UFC 303 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“The first round played out exactly how I expected,” Fili said at his post-fight news conference. “He wanted to brawl and I was like, ‘Nah, we’re going to have a nice, technical, clean fight. With that, I’m going to win.

“Then he just became more insistent that we were going to brawl through the second and third. And I still won the brawl, too, but that guy’s really good at pulling you into a dogfight. He’s known for that, and I was surprised how well he did it. He pulled me into a brawl, and I still won the brawl. But I mean, it’s Cub Swanson – he’s good at what he does.”
