An old friend in Kareem Hunt visits the Browns after Nick Chubb injury

A familiar face returns for a visit

The Cleveland Browns are bringing in Kareem Hunt for a workout as they continue to search for an acceptable replacement for Nick Chubb. The team has made calls about the Rams’ running back Cam Akers.

The hometown kid, Hunt did not sign with a team this offseason as the running back market saw a massive crash this year. Hunk and a few other running backs have held themselves out this season in hopes of getting a better deal down the line. A better deal might come to Hunt after the Chubb injury. Hunt would never want one of his best friends injured. But the nature of the NFL is a cruel business.

As a player, Hunt declined every year in Cleveland. The former winner of the rushing title is still a productive back. He’ll gleefully bounce through holes and into defenders, but he doesn’t have the speed to make him an explosive threat. He is still a serviceable back with an unyielding running style. He would make a fine re-addition to the running back room.

As a teammate, the Browns’ locker room has always enjoyed Hunt’s friendly demeanor. Perhaps the reassuring smile of a friend is what the team needs right now as they look to mold an offensive identity without Chubb.
