An emotional Shane Steichen thanked his former Eagles offensive players during Colts press conference

Shane Steichen really loved his former Eagles.

New Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen didn’t forget to thank his former Philadelphia Eagles offensive players during his introductory press conference on Tuesday.

Steichen became visibly emotional when naming a long list of Eagles he worked with in Philly. To Steichen, he wouldn’t be an NFL head coach without the stellar play that his offense gave him as its play caller. As cynical as it can be to follow the NFL hiring process for its head coaches, it’s genuinely moving to see someone like Steichen remember that rising through the ranks is never just a one-man job.

It’s easy to tell why he’s now about to run his own team if this is how he admires those who play for him.

Eagles receiver A.J. Brown reciprocated the appreciation.

Steichen (or Dax Shepard, depending on who you ask) seems as genuine as they come.

His one of the best hires of the NFL coaching cycle this winter, and if he’s as good as he was in Philly, the Colts will be fine for years to come.
