The Miami Dolphins created a lot of buzz on Wednesday afternoon when it was reported that they would be looking to trade up to the No. 3 pick in order to grab a left tackle before anyone takes the guy they want.
That’s right — a left tackle. Not Tua Tagovailoa or Isaiah Simmons or Jeff Okudah, but a tackle. Of course, it is one of the most important positions on the field, but many think that this class of LT’s is not in danger of being called thin at the top, and the guy they want could be there at No. 5 where they are slotted to make their first pick.
Sources: The #Dolphins have called the teams in front of them for a possible trade up from No. 5 and are gauging the price to come up to No. 3 to potentially take an offensive tackle. We could see a run on tackles in the Top 10 like never before.

If the Dolphins were to trade up and trigger the left tackle boom early in the first round though, it could mean big things for the Washington Redskins. While many teams may be looking to secure the left side of their line with a solid player in the draft, Washington is still holding onto a veteran LT who is far and away better than any player on the market — Trent Williams. So as teams see the prospect they want snatched up in front of them, what other option may they have than calling up the Redskins?
Take the Cleveland Browns, for example. With the No. 10 pick and a major need at LT, many expect them to try and draft one of the top pass protectors in the first round. However, if multiple LTs are gone by the time they get onto the clock, would it behoove them to reach out to the Redskins and up their offer for Williams? It’s not out of the question.
So if you thought that the Redskins might have a relatively calm night, with Chase Young being the only acquisition they make, think again. Right now, the odds are in favor of a trade for Trent Williams being done, and it will likely come from a tackle-hungry team who missed out in the first round.
