An early fantasy football outlook for Patriots TE Devin Asiasi

Devin Asiasi is an intriguing fantasy target down the road, but not right now.

New England Patriots rookie tight end Devin Asiasi had an interesting college career to say the least. After starting out at Michigan, he transferred to UCLA. He was a reliable tight end for the Bruins, recording 44 catches for 641 yards and four touchdowns in his final college season.

Now, he will look to be a key part of a New England offense that is remodeling the tight end position. As a result, he could be a decent fantasy option for your team in the future and in his rookie season. After all, the Patriots have no one better to take over the top tight end job. Asiasi immediately slides to the top of the depth chart.

ADP on Fantasy Pros: N/A
Where we think you should take him: 15th round
ESPN’s projected stats: 7 receptions, 87 yards and a touchdown
Our projected stats: 10 catches, 125 yards, two touchdowns

Asiasi could be a decent fantasy option in future years. Right now however, he is not. The Patriots still have the likes of Matt LaCosse, Ryan Izzo, and Dalton Keene at the position. Asiasi is going to have to work hard to crack the depth chart in 2020. We do not exactly know if New England is going to run a pass-based or run-based offense next year, either. Take Asiasi at your own risk. He will be a more viable pick up once he learns the ropes, and may be someone to eye if he shows signs of building rapport with Jarrett Stidham.,
