Head coach Mike McCarthy has instituted a new tradition with the Dallas Cowboys by naming captains on a weekly basis. His choices this week are interesting to say the least. For Week 5, the Dallas Cowboys captains run the gamut in terms of play so far through 2020.
First up is wide receiver Amari Cooper, who is off to a hot start, ranking No. 2 in receptions and No. 4 in terms of yards. The other two are incredibly suspect choices in defense lineman Tyrone Crawford and former-starter-turned-backup safety Darian Thompson.

Thompson was benched after just one drive in Week 4’s game against the Cleveland Browns and isn’t slated to start this week. That honor goes to Cowboys Wire favorite Donovan Wilson. Perhaps this selection speaks to how Thompson handled his benching inside the building this week.
The last captain is Tyrone Crawford who’s been so invisible this may be a way to get him some face time before disappearing into the mist come gametime.
