Amanda Serrano continues to roll.
The featherweight titleholder defeated Yamileth Mercado by a unanimous decision on the Jake Paul-Tyron Woodley card Sunday in Cleveland, her second successful defense of her belts.
The scores were 97-93, 98-92 and 99-91.
Serrano (41-1-1, 30 KOs) is now 12-1 in world title fights, her only loss coming against Frida Wallberg in 2012.
The winner pushed the fight from the outset, stalking Mercado (18-3, 5 KOs) and outworking her. The New Yorker didn’t hurt her Mexican opponent badly but landed consistently, including many eye-catching shots to the body.
Mercado made it difficult for Serrano to land big punches by boxing well and fought bravely but she couldn’t keep pace with the active Serrano, who gradually wore her down.
Mercado holds a junior featherweight title, meaning she moved up in weight to face one of the top fighters pound for pound.
