LSU had its SEC media day session on Monday. [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] spoke along with player reps [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag], [autotag]Josh Williams[/autotag] and [autotag]Mekhi Wingo[/autotag].
Kelly was asked about several topics, one of them being what he expects from Jayden Daniels and the offense this fall. Last year, everything at LSU was new. Kelly was a first-year head coach with a transfer QB playing in a new offensive system.
Daniels looked shaky at times as he acclimated. He said he didn’t always know what to expect when he was getting started last year. By the time the bowl game came around, Daniels felt more at home.
“Fast forward to the bowl game, you could see how much more comfortable everybody was with each other. How much more comfortable the players were with the coaches and the players were within each other and the team and the coaches,” Daniels said.
Kelly echoed that sentiment and said he wanted Daniels to build on the things he did in the bowl game.
Brian Kelly says the progression for Jayden Daniels in year 2 is for him to be aggressive but controlled, run when he needs to, and be confident in his abilities. #LSU

The hope is that improvement will produce more big plays. LSU’s offense was among the most efficient in the country, but it lacked explosiveness.
Kelly spoke about developing those big plays at media day.
“It starts with the ability to get balls to your playmakers and giving them the opportunity to make plays in space. It’s that simple,” Kelly said.
Kelly said they focused on that in the spring and liked what he saw. It echoed the positive reports we heard from offensive coordinator [autotag]Mike Denbrock[/autotag] in spring practice.
The continuity of the offense paired with an added focus on creating splash plays could mean big things to come for this offense. The expectations are already high.
Daniels’ Heisman odds are soaring and [autotag]Malik Nabers[/autotag] could be the best receiver in the SEC. [autotag]Will Campbell[/autotag] and [autotag]Mason Taylor[/autotag] are back after standing out as true freshmen last year.
LSU will be tested right away against a good FSU defense. But right now, all the signs point toward progress.
