Alex Grinch still feels the sting of brutal performance vs Utah: ‘We take ownership of it’

On the team bus after the Utah loss, Alex Grinch was watching film ‘within 10 minutes,’ immediately trying to understand what went wrong for USC’s defense.

Do you think the Utah loss was a gut-punch for USC players and coaches?

It’s not great that the Trojans lost, to be sure … but it’s also impressive to see how deeply this result hurt.

Players cried. They care. They really want to be great.

Coaches care. They know they have to be better and are not going to easily accept this.

Alex Grinch had this to say to USC’s Rivals site:

“Immediately, within 10 minutes, they’ve got that thing on your iPad and you’re watching that thing on the bus,” he said after practice Wednesday. “Just because it stings, it burns. You work your tail off and these guys do and the coaching staff does, and we understand the expectations at USC. We understand when we don’t get the outcomes that we want, it’s on us. We take ownership of it. We tell the guys, ‘If we own it, we have a chance to do something about it.’ … We don’t feel good right now. We don’t.”
