Alec Burks still unsure of what role will be with Sixers going forward

Philadelphia 76ers guard Alec Burks is still not entirely sure about his role heading into the resumption.

When the Philadelphia 76ers made the move at the deadline to acquire Alec Burks from the Golden State Warriors at the deadline back in February, the move was made to make sure they add some scoring and shooting off their bench. The Sixers have struggled all season long in bench scoring so that was the move the team needed to make.

Burks only played 11 games with the Sixers before the season suspension and it was a little up and down, but he did provide what they needed. He was averaging 10.7 points per game off their bench in 20 minutes per game and he shot 32.7% from deep while also getting to the foul line 2.5 times per game.

Still, there was a lot to learn in a short amount of time and the hiatus did not help much. As the team looks to prepare for Orlando, Burks is still unsure of what to make of his role on the team.

“I guess we’ll see,” said Burks. “The games I played, the whole team wasn’t there. Ben (Simmons) was out, Josh (Richardson) was out for a little bit, Joel (Embiid) missed some time, so I don’t think I played a game where everybody was healthy. I don’t know. I guess we’ll see how it goes.”

Glenn Robinson III, who was also acquired by the Sixers in the same deal, did say that he and coach Brett Brown had a conversation about his role on his way back from Indiana. Burks, on the other hand, had a small talk about that, but he is still not clear on how he will fit in with this group.

“It hinted, but you don’t know until you get out there,” Burks explained. “Being around each other and actually see that that’s what it is. We’ll see man, we’ll see.”

The team heads down to Orlando on July 9 and they will begin their season officially on August 1 against the Indiana Pacers. That will be the time for Burks to figure everything out before the season does resume officially at that point. [lawrence-related id=34133,34123,34117]
