Alec Burks making impact already both on and off the floor for Sixers

New Philadelphia 76ers guard Alec Burks has made an impact both on and off the floor for his team.

When the Philadelphia 76ers acquired Alec Burks from the Golden State Warriors at the trade deadline, they were looking for a guy who could bring scoring and shooting off their bench. That’s exactly what he provided in Thursday’s win over the Brooklyn Nets as he scored 19 points off the bench.

That is one area of his game that does not come as a surprise as Glenn Robinson III, who came with Burks in the trade, had seen up close and personal in Golden State.

“I know that’s AB, I was up on the bench cheering for him,” he said. “I know that’s what he can bring to any team that he’s on. It doesn’t matter where you’re at, especially if you’re in a position where we’re fighting for our careers. We don’t have a contract after this so wherever you are, it’s tough to play well when you’re thinking about so many different things, but I was excited for him. That’s AB, I call him ‘A Buckets’.”

Not only is Burks already making an impact on the floor, but he is making a quick impact off of it and in the film room already. He has been in the ear of young guard Shake Milton already.

Milton, who also played a key role in the win on Thursday making big plays in overtime, listed Burks already as one of the guys he goes to for any advice. Along with some guys who were already there.

“Me and Mike (Scott) share a locker next to each other so he’s always talking to me,” he explained. “I go to J-Rich (Josh Richardson) or even AB. It just depends, I try to learn from everybody.”

It is impressive to see Burks already having an impact on this Sixers team despite only playing in now two games and he has been in Philadelphia for about only a week. He is a proven scorer and he can hold his own on the defensive end of the floor. He can prove to be an excellent pickup in the long run.

In the meantime, the Sixers will now head out on the road and face the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday as they look to get themselves on track on the road. [lawrence-related id=26255,26229,26211]
