Junior welterweight contender Alberto Puello was suspended Tuesday by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after failing an out-of-competition drug test in April.
Puello tested positive for Clomiphene, a hormone and metabolic modulator that is banned.
The 28-year-old Dominican was suspended for six months but not fined because the test was conducted out of the competition. The suspension ends on Oct. 5.
Puello (21-0, 10 KOs) was set to fight Rolando Romero last month but he was removed from the card after his failed drug test.
He also lost his WBA title. He was designed “champion in recess.”
