The Alabama football team just lost one of its very own to the transfer portal on Thursday. According to 247Sports’ Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz, junior wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks has entered the transfer portal.
Brooks came to Alabama as a decorated, five-star recruit out of IMG Academy. The Florida native had high expectations once he stepped on campus.
The most memorable moment of Brooks’ career came against Auburn. Brooks reeled in a 28-yard touchdown pass to help send Alabama to overtime, where they would pick up a win in four overtimes.
Over the course of his Alabama career, Brooks hauled in 57 receptions for 896 yards and 10 touchdowns.
In 2023, Brooks played very sparingly and suffered an injury late in the season. It is unclear if he will receive an additional year for a medical redshirt. Noentheless, he will likely be moving on and playing for a different program next season.
