The Alabama Crimson Tide women’s basketball program has been ranked in the preseason AP Poll, coming in as the nation’s No. 24 overall team to begin the year.
This is a first for Alabama in recent memory, as the Crimson Tide have not been ranked in the preseason AP Poll since the 1998-99 season.
Led by long-time head coach Kristy Curry, the Crimson Tide are coming off a season in which they made their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, owning a 24-10 overall record, as well as a 10-6 mark in SEC play.
Falling in the Round of 32, this was also Alabama’s highest overall win total since the 1997-98 season, as well as the first time the Crimson Tide won 10 SEC games since that same year. Alabama also returns multiple prominent names off that same team, headlined by preseason First Team All-SEC pick Sarah Ashlee Barker.
The No. 24 ranked Crimson Tide will officially begin the 2024-25 season at home November 4 against New Orleans.
