The Crimson Tide women’s basketball team will continue to dance after they handled business on day one of the NCAA Tournament. The No. 9 seeded Crimson Tide ended the game on an 8-2 run to knock off No. 8 Florida State 82-74. Despite being the lower seed, the Tide went into the matchup as a 2.5-point favorite.
[autotag]Essence Cody[/autotag] was the star of the show for Alabama on Friday as she posted a crucial 20 points, 14 boards and three blocks. Karly Weathers and Aaliyah Nye also were key contributors as they both poured in 18 points as well. It is Alabama’s first tournament win since 2021 when they knocked off North Carolina.
Alabama has not played for a Sweet 16 since 1998 and will now look to change that as they take on the No. 1 seeded Texas Longhorns in Austin, TX in the round of 32 on Sunday.
