After having previously entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this month, Alabama Crimson Tide tight end Danny Lewis Jr. has withdrawn his name according to reports Monday, and will instead return for the 2025 season.
A redshirt sophomore, Lewis is currently finishing up his third season with the Crimson Tide in which the tight end has not recorded any stats. His lone stats at Alabama came during the 2023 season where had one reception for five yards, while also returning a kickoff for 14 yards.
Prior to Alabama, Lewis was a member of the Crimson Tide’s 2022 recruiting class where he was considered a three-star prospect. Lewis also ranked as the nation’s No. 622 overall player that cycle, as well as the No. 31 tight end, and the No. 30 player in the state of Louisiana out of Westgate High School according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Looking ahead to 2025, Lewis is now expected to play a significant role in Alabama’s tight end room as a potential starter. The Crimson Tide are set to lose both of CJ Dippre and Robbie Ouzts to graduation.
