In what will be long remembered as the Grant Nelson game, the Alabama Crimson Tide took down the North Carolina Tar Heels 89-87 in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament to advance to the program’s second Elite Eight appearance.
The aforementioned Nelson put the team on his back down the stretch with his 24 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocked shots.
With the absence of Latrell Wrightsell, Mark Sears, Aaron Estrada, and Rylan Griffen combined for 56 points to help Nelson guide the Tide to a historic win for the Crimson Tide.
Alabama will move on to face Clemson in the Elite Eight on Saturday night and look for redemption from an early season defeat to the Tigers in Tuscaloosa.
