After making the program’s first-ever Final Four appearance a year ago, the Alabama Crimson Tide have been picked to win the 2025 SEC basketball championship in the preseason.
The announcement was made by the conference on Monday alongside the release of preseason All-SEC teams, as well as the preseason Player of the Year pick for both men’s and women’s basketball.
For men’s, Alabama was, as mentioned previously, picked to win the SEC this season, while star guard Mark Sears was also named the preseason SEC Player of the Year. Sears was also a preseason First Team All-SEC pick, while forward Grant Nelson was named Second Team All-SEC in the preseason.
On the women’s side, Alabama was picked to finish sixth in the SEC this season. The Crimson Tide also had a First Team All-SEC preseason pick in Sarah Ashlee Barker.
Alabama’s men’s season will begin November 4 at home against UNC Asheville, while the women tip things off that same day against New Orleans.
