Alabama MBB HC Nate Oats: ‘I’m done talking after these losses’

Nate Oats wanted to hear from his players after the disheartening loss to Georgia.

Alabama men’s basketball began the season with high hopes.

The team was fresh off of a 2020-21 conference tournament championship, a regular season SEC title and a Sweet 16 run the the NCAA tournament. After beginning the season ranked, the Crimson Tide moved up inside the top-10. Now, unranked and confused, the future is hazy for the young team.

Wins against two of last season’s Final Four teams had Alabama looking mighty, but devastating losses to teams like Georgia, Mississippi State and Missouri have damaged the teams resumé and morale.

After losing to Georgia last night, the last-place team in the SEC, head coach Nate Oats joined the Paul Finebaum Show to discuss the team’s recent performance.

He said that he entered the locker room and “[W]anted to hear what they had to say. I walked in and I said, ‘I’m done talking after these losses, I need to hear what you guys think the problem is.’ And they talked, and it was good. We got some stuff out.”

The Crimson Tide will face a rough schedule coming up, with Baylor, Auburn and Kentucky being three consecutive highly-ranked opponents.
