Alabama was recently listed as a finalist to land 2024 five-star wide Mike Matthews.
Matthews plays wide receiver for Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia. As a junior, he hauled in 48 receptions for 1,030 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. He helped lead the Panthers to the second round of the playoffs last season.
As for his recruitment, Matthews has taken a number of visits. The schools that he has visited the most are Clemson and Georgia. He has taken a combined nine visits to those schools.
However, he is set to unofficially visit Alabama on April 5. It will be his third trip to Tuscaloosa. There is mutual interest between he and the coaching staff.
In an interview with Mike Singer of Blue and Gold, Matthews had this to say about the Crimson Tide:
“The Crimson Tide, [it’s] really self-explanatory,” Matthews added, “Just a great atmosphere, a great team, just known for being great. That’s always been a top school for me. Being able to sit down and talk to (head) coach (Nick) Saban, how how he (knows your) name, everything that I’m good at above all, things like that, it’s really interesting to me.”
