The Alabama Crimson Tide landed a commitment through the transfer portal late Monday night, as former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns running back Dre’lyn Washington announced that he would be playing in Tuscaloosa next season, committing to Kalen DeBoer and Co..
Washington is the seventh transfer addition for the Crimson Tide so far this offseason, as well as the first at the running back position. The Louisiana transfer is also the fourth transfer addition on the offensive side of the ball, joining Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Isaiah Horton, Texas A&M Aggies Kam Dewberry, and Ball State Cardinals offensive tackle Arkel Anugwom.
A redshirt senior, Washington comes to Alabama as an experienced running back who, across four seasons at Louisiana, has rushed for a combined 1,343 yards and nine touchdowns on 229 attempts. Washington also has 15 catches for 155 yards and two touchdowns, as well as one tackle defensively, during that span.
This past season, Washington had one of the best seasons of his career where he rushed for 478 yards and five touchdowns on 73 attempts, along with six receptions for 107 yards and another score.
Washington now joins an Alabama 2025 running back room that is now set to feature Jam Miller, Richard Young, Daniel Hill, Kevin Riley, and Akylin Dear.
