The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team got back to their winning ways on Tuesday night with an 86-74 win over the UNLV Rebels in the Maui Invitational.
Senior guard John Petty Jr. led the Crimson Tide with 22 points and six assists. Petty Jr. was red-hot from the field, hitting seven of 12 shots, especially from beyond the arc where he was six of 10.
It was a stark contrast from Alabama’s loss to Stanford on Monday evening. The Tide struggled on both ends of the floor and struggled shooting the basketball.
In the win over UNLV, Alabama shot 37.5 percent from three-point range, hitting 15 of 40 attempts.
Five Alabama players scored in double figures as Herbert Jones scored 16 points, Jaden Shackelford chipped in with 13 points, and freshman Joshua Primo scored 11 points.
Sophomore Jahvon Quinerly continues to look like Alabama’s next star guard as he scored 19 points, dished out four assists, and pulled down four rebounds.
Alabama moves to 2-1 on the season and faces Providence in the tournament’s fifth-place game.
