The roster outlook for the 2024-25 Alabama Crimson Tide became clearer Monday afternoon, as senior forward Grant Nelson officially announced that he would use his final year of eligibility to return to college next season.
A key factor in the Crimson Tide’s run to the Final Four, Nelson transferred to Alabama last offseason after three seasons at North Dakota State and was an immediate impact player in Tuscaloosa.
This past season, Nelson started in all 37 games for Alabama to average 11.9 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 1.5 APG, and 1.6 BPG on 48.8% shooting from the field. The senior also shot 27.3% from three, as well as a career-high 81.3% at the free throw line.
Looking ahead, Nelson will now return to help lead what is shaping up to be a loaded Alabama frontcourt next season that will also features the likes of Jarin Stevenson and incoming freshman Aiden Sherrell, among others.
