Alabama football watches its roster suffer after Nick Saban’s retirement

USC and other schools will make a mad dash at the players who have left the Crimson Tide.

The transfer portal is wild right now. Washington, Alabama, and Arizona players are thinking about where they want to play after Nick Saban retired, Kalen DeBoer went to Tuscaloosa, Jedd Fisch went to Seattle, and Arizona hired Brent Brennan from San Jose State.

Roll Tide Wire is staying on top of the transfer portal developments involving Alabama and Washington. Do follow Roll Tide Wire for continuing coverage of reshaped rosters and player movements.

One Alabama player transferred out of the program after Saban’s retirement and went to archrival Auburn. Lots of other Tide transfers remain on the open market, an obvious point of interest for USC and Lincoln Riley. The Trojans have to win some battles for the prime players now in this special portal window, which lasts for 30 days after a coaching change occurs (and will therefore carry into early February).

The No. 1 Alabama player on the open market right now is offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor. We will see if USC can land him and make a program-changing upgrade. Stay tuned.
