Alabama’s opening week game against the USC Trojans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington (Tex.) has officially been cancelled after the Pac-12 recently made the announcement that it would be playing a conference-only schedule in 2020.
Yes, that was unfortunate news, and yes, that means the Crimson Tide is looking for a new opponent to open its season with on Sept. 5, but as of right now, that is still the target date to open the season. Until that changes, we’ll continue the countdown to kickoff.
With it now being July 11, we are officially 56 days away from the start!
True freshman Seth McLaughlin, a three-star offensive lineman from Buford (Ga.) who just recently got to campus, will wear the No. 56 for the Crimson Tide. The 6-foot-4, 278-pounder will compete for a two-deep spot at center.
A high school teammate of mine at Athens High School, former defensive lineman/outside linebacker William Ming, also rocked the No. 56 for Alabama from 2009-12.
But most notably, former outside linebacker Tim Williams, who is now a member of the Green Bay Packers, wore the number from 2013-16. He accumulated 20.0 sacks in his career at Alabama, with 18.5 of those coming in his last two seasons.
