Alabama’s opening week game against the USC Trojans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, has been cancelled after the Pac-12 announced its teams would play a conference-only schedule in 2020.
Yes, that was unfortunate news, and, yes, that means the Crimson Tide is looking for a new opponent to open its season on Sept. 5, but, as of right now, that is still the target date to open the season. Until that changes, we’ll continue the countdown to kickoff.
With it now being July 26, we are officially 41 days away from the start!
Five-star true freshman Chris Braswell, an outside linebacker from Baltimore (Md.), will wear the No. 41 for Alabama this upcoming season.
The last notable player to wear the number, however, is another edge player: former Tide standout Courtney Upshaw. After a successful career in Tuscaloosa, Upshaw ended up being a second-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens before winning a Super Bowl and spending time with the Atlanta Falcons (2016-17) and New York Jets (2018).
While they’re different players, the Alabama coaching staff has to be hoping that Braswell can become as impactful — or maybe more impactful — as Upshaw during his time at Alabama.
