Xavier McKinney, Defensive Back
Xavier McKinney is widely considered one of the top safeties available in the upcoming draft, and despite some projections, it would be a major surprise to see him fall to Day 2,
When looking for a potential impact safety in today’s NFL, Daniel Jeremiah describes three traits to look out for when evaluating:
Had this chat with a personnel exec the other day about versatility being more important than ever. My theory on safeties- play high, force player or cover in slot… need guys that can do 2 of the 3. Any combo works.

McKinney is the type of player who can do all three effectively. He’s got enough range to be a single-high safety, he’s strong against the run (although, his tackling could use some work) and he’s more than capable of covering receivers in the slot.
