There’s an argument to be made that Minnesota should trade back in the NFL draft this year.
With the needs that the Vikings have, it makes sense to acquire more picks if the team wants to draft a defensive tackle or a guard.
That said, there is one defensive tackle who might not be available for Minnesota in the second round or beyond: Christian Barmore. Bleacher Report listed Barmore as a dream draft target for the Vikings. Here’s what Maurice Moton of B/R said about Barmore:
“For a 6’5″, 310-pound defensive tackle, Barmore possesses unique quickness with complementary strength. His short-area burst will catch guards by surprise, leading to constant pressures up the middle. He brings the type of aggressiveness that the Vikings need at the 3-technique spot.”
Barmore offers a lot, but Minnesota has a lot of pressing needs and no second-round pick. It will certainly be interesting to see what the team does on draft day, but if Barmore is available at No. 14, I don’t think it’s the worst choice.
