Alabama drops the final two games of the series against No. 1 Texas

Tough weekend of baseball for the Tide after No. 1 Texas swept the series, giving up just one run to Alabama.

Game 3: Texas bats come alive late

The Alabama baseball squad was finally able to breakthrough in the final game of the three-game series in Austin. Grayson Hitt was able to throw three scoreless innings before the Longhorns took the early lead. Austin Todd hit an RBI groundout to short with the bases loaded for the 1-0 lead. Hitt wouldn’t get out of the fourth inning going 3.1 with four hits allowed and the one earned run. Alabama responded in the fifth.

On the fourth pitch of his at-bat, Owen Diodati took Tanner Witt deep to right field for the solo home run that tied the game up at one. Witt would pitch six innings and earned his second win on the year. The Alabama bullpen just wasn’t able to fend off Texas for too long.

Luke Holman would take the loss after he gave up three earned runs in 0.1 innings of work. He faced four batters with one walk and two hits. Alabama trailed 4-1 going into the eighth inning and Texas tacked on two more, the first coming on a balk from Hunter Hoopes.

Alabama (5-3) will take on UT-Martin in Tuscaloosa on Tuesday.
