The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide improved to 7-0 on the season after Saturday’s 63-3 win over the Kentucky Wildcats.

Early on, the Crimson Tide appeared a bit rusty and looked like a team that hadn’t played in a few weeks. Alabama led just 7-3 at the end of the first quarter.

However, the Crimson Tide got rolling the second quarter as quarterback Mac Jones led a four-play, 58-yard drive that resulted in a 10-yard touchdown reception for DeVonta Smith.

The Alabama defense continued to shut down Kentucky’s offense, while the Crimson Tide offense was red hot. Running back Najee Harris scored from 42 yards out to make it 21-3, then wide receiver John Metchie III caught an 18-yard touchdown from Jones just before the half to give the Crimson Tide a 28-3 lead at halftime.

The second half was more of the same for ‘Bama.

Sophomore defensive back Jordan Battle picked off a Terry Wilson pass and returned it 45 yards for an Alabama touchdown.

Freshman quarterback Bryce Young even got in on the action in the third quarter, pitching an 18-yard touchdown pass to Smith to give the Crimson Tide a 49-3 advantage.

On the day, Jones completed 16 of 24 passes for 230 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Smith finished the game with nine receptions for 144 yards and two scores.

Alabama’s defense held Kentucky to just 179 total yards.
