The Alabama Crimson Tide improved to 3-1 on the season after Wednesday night’s 88-71 win over the Providence Friars in the fifth-place game of the relocated Maui Invitational.

The Crimson Tide controlled this game from the start; although the Friars cut the lead to six points right after halftime, Alabama would go on an 8-2 to seize control and never looked back.

John Petty Jr. led the Tide with 16 points, while Jaden Shackelford chipped in with 15 points and six rebounds.

For the second straight game, freshman Joshua Primo scored in double figures with 15 points. Primo hit three of six three-point attempts.

Herbert Jones finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama was solid from beyond the arc again on Wednesday, hitting 12 of 29 attempts. As a team, Alabama shot 46.8 percent from the field.

The Crimson Tide dominated the interior, outrebounding Providence 48-28, including 18 offensive rebounds.

After losing its opener in this tournament, Alabama rebounded nicely to pick up two consecutive wins.

The Crimson Tide are now off until Dec. 12, when they face 3-0 Clemson.
