Alabama commit to visit Nebraska this weekend

Nebraska is getting a visit from Alabama commit Dawson Merritt

Class of 2025 four-star linebacker Dawson Merritt will be visiting the Huskers for their game on Saturday against the Colorado BuffaloesRivals.com’s Greg Smith confirmed this visit.

The Huskers were in a heated recruiting battle for Merritt until the end of June when he ultimately committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Meritt is the 14th overall linebacker in the 2025 class and the fourth overall player in his class from the state of Kansas per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Merritt has visited Nebraska before. He most recently visited Lincoln on June 14. The program officially offered him on November 7.

The linebacker played a big part in Blue Valley High School’s defense last year. The Kansas native recorded 83 tackles, seven sacks, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. His ability to play all over the field and his athleticism were evident.

According to the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings, the 2025 Nebraska recruiting class is ranked 31st nationally with 18 commitments.

Meritt would be a strong addition to the blackshirts. The Huskers need several athletic linebackers in their 3-3-5 defense, and Meritt would be a solid fit.
