The No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide suffered their first loss last weekend to a tough Missouri team. The Tide looks to rebound Tuesday on the road at South Carolina.
In a battle of the league’s top two teams, Alabama scored the game’s first four points, before Missouri pulled away to take a 44-27 lead into halftime. Missouri led by as many as 22 points in the second half, before Alabama’s massive comeback. Trailing 64-44 with 6:13 remaining in the game, John Petty hit a three-pointer that would start a fiery resurgence for the Tide.
Alabama trimmed down a 20-point lead to a one-point lead in just over five minutes. The game would end on a sour note, as two questionable calls from officials went unnoticed, not allowing Alabama the opportunity to take the lead from the three-point line. Mizzou would head to the line and convert two free throws to extend their lead to 68-65, which would be the final score.
Over the last five games, South Carolina has alternated wins and losses in SEC play. After falling to Auburn on January 23, the Gamecocks have earned wins over Georgia and Florida, and losses to Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. In their most recent game, a 75-59 loss to Mississippi State, AJ Lawson and Keyshawn Bryant led the way with 13 points.
