The Alabama Crimson Tide opened the 2020-21 college basketball season on Wednesday with a big 81-57 win over Jacksonville State.
Alabama’s win featured the long-awaited debut of Villanova transfer Jahvon Quinerly — and he certainly impressed.
The former five-star recruit scored 18 points and dished out three assists in Alabama’s win.
Sophomore guard Jadon Shackelford scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Tide. It was the first career double-double for Shackelford.
Senior forward Herbert Jones scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, despite shooting just three of 11 from the field.
The Crimson Tide struggled from the field, shooting just 39 percent from the field as a team. Alabama was even worse from three-point range, connecting on just seven of 31 attempts.
Alabama is next scheduled to play Stanford in the Maui Invitational on Nov. 30.
