National Signing Day isn’t until Wednesday, but that doesn’t mean that Alabama can’t land another addition to its 2020 recruiting class earlier than that.
Chase Allen, a place kicker from Colleyville (Tex.), announced via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon that he would be joining the Crimson Tide for this upcoming season:
I am thankful to God for the blessings He has shown me, and thankful to my coaches and all those who have supported me through my journey to this point. I am proud to announce that I will continue my athletic and educational career at the University of Alabama.@CoachJeffBanks pic.twitter.com/FlBTSEkMwf

Based off of available scholarships and the unknown status of Allen prior to the announcement, the assumption is that he will be added as a walk-on player, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be opportunities.
Most recently, fellow walk-on punter Ty Perine was given a chance to earn playing time during his first season, and it paid off in a major way for the Prattville (Ala.) native.
Former top kicker prospect Will Reichard will be back for his sophomore season after a hip injury stalled his first season in Tuscaloosa. In addition, rising redshirt junior Joseph Bulovas is still on the roster as well, which means Allen will have a lot of competition.
Even if it’s for depth purposes (which most should assume that it will be), the added competition cannot be considered a bad thing.
