Al Horford reacts to hurting his hand against Knicks, says it’s ‘sore’

Philadelphia 76ers big man Al Horford says his hand is “sore” after a win over the New York Knicks.

The Philadelphia 76ers are already down one big man in Joel Embiid as he rehabs from undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left hand. They don’t need to be without another important big man.

Al Horford appeared to hurt his hand at the 6:31 mark of the third quarter and he stayed in the game, but it appeared to bother him throughout the rest of the game.

“I just took a fall there, landed on the hand,” he explained. “We’ll see where we’re at tomorrow, but it’s pretty sore right now. I’m just glad I was able to stay in the game and give the team whatever I could.”

Horford finished with only four points, seven rebounds, and four assists and he shot 2-for-9 from the floor and 0-for-5 from deep. Overall, it was a tough night for him, but he did drill a clutch jumper late to lift the Sixers to a much-needed road victory on Saturday night.

That does not mean it was easy for the veteran big man out of Florida.

“It was definitely uncomfortable,” he said. “In this game, you always play through injuries and things like that and I just wanted to make sure that I did what I could, but we’ll see where I’m at tomorrow and hopefully I’ll be good to go for Monday.”

The Sixers head across the bridge to face the Brooklyn Nets on Monday so they will definitely need their big man healthy and ready to go. [lawrence-related id=23800,23773,23695]
