Al Horford is ‘happy to watch (Isaiah Thomas) get another opportunity’ – even if it’s not with the Boston Celtics

The Celtics center reminded us the former King in the Fourth is part of why he came to Boston.

After a recent press conference where former Boston Celtics fan-favorite point guard Isaiah Thomas expressed frustration at not being able to find a place with the Celtics as a free agent even in a de facto coaching role, there’s been a renewed attention to IT’s time in Boston and his journey back to the NBA of late.

Asked about Thomas’ story arc in recent days after shootaround Wednesday, Boston big man Al Horford shared he had “a lot of respect for it,” noting The King in the Fourth’s success as a Celtic was one of the main things that attracted him to become a Celtic in the first place. “He’s someone I was very fortunate to play with, to see firsthand how much he cares about the game,” explained Horford.

“He loves to play basketball, he just does,” added the Florida product. “I’m just very happy to watch him get another opportunity and to be able to come out and show that he could still play.”
