Things have not gone right recently for the Philadelphia 76ers. They just finished up a disheartening 0-4 road trip where not a lot of things went right for them, but maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Ben Simmons and coach Brett Brown expressed some positive views following the loss to the Houston Rockets and now, Al Horford believes he sees something the Sixers can build on.
“I do look at the film,” said Horford. “I am encouraged by some of the things that I see so that’s how I stay positive. I believe that if we continue to work and do things the way coach wants us to do, we’ll breakthrough.”
Philadelphia did not play their best game against the Rockets on Friday, but they had a chance to win that game as they were within striking distance late. They showed off a lot of fight and they were solid defensively, they just got beat by the best offensive player in the league in James Harden.
Offensively, it was still a struggle to shoot the ball as they were only 6-for-27 from deep in the loss, but they were able to find some success in the halfcourt sets. It seemed that they were able to find some more clarity on what they’re meant to be doing on that end of the floor and that’s what Horford sees.
“A lot of things actually, last game we found Ben putting pressure on the rim with J-Rich, a nice two-man game there,” he added. “We’re starting to figure out where coach is starting to put us in positions, more specifically they’re starting to be a little more clean, and us continuing to be organized on the offensive end. That’s the one thing he keeps hammering on and I see some improvement in that. Houston is a good team, I felt like we played really well and I think that we’re trending in the right direction.”
The Sixers will host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday as they look to finally snap that cold spell. It will give them their first opportunity to really put to use the adjustments that they have recently worked on. [lawrence-related id=22755,22745,22736]
